Expression Tools

Digital tools on this page support learners that will benefit from the accommodation of alternate forms of expression.
Does the learner struggle with standard forms of writing or typing?
Does the learner have fine or gross motor skill deficiencies that prevent them from using standard input tools?
Does the student suffer from Dyslexia or Dysgraphia?
Does the student have a disability that necessitates providing answers orally as opposed to in written format?

VoiceIn is a Chrome Extension that allows the user to user to dictate text for any text box portion of a web page.  You can access it by clicking the icon or right clicking over the text box.  Just don't forget to turn it off when you're finished using it!

Read and Write is an amazing tool for student expression.  It includes text to speech, screenshot reader, dictionary, picture dictionary, word prediction, and more.  It works well with PDF's, webpages, google docs, and google slides.  This tool would allow students to work through assignments and use the tools to help them respond.  It's only downside is that all tools are only available in the paid version. There is a free version with some limited features and educators can get the paid version for free for a year by visiting. https://www.texthelp.com/en-us/products/read-write/free-for-teachers/

OneNote's Dictation tool offers students an easy to access speech to text tool.  This tool will take the student's words and turn them into text within the OneNote.   For teachers not using OneNote the student could still access this tool in their own notebook and then copy and paste their responses into other formats.

Loom and Screencastify offer students a way to record their answers either using the web cam, or by recording their screen.  This allows the learner options when it comes to deciding how they want to communicate with the instructor.
